What we do

We provide psychotherapy to refugees and asylum seekers across Yorkshire and the Humber regions. Our specialist practitioners provide talking therapy through interpreters trained in this unique setting.

We support displaced people living with the effects of trauma and persecution. Across the region we work with individuals, families and children. As well as talking therapy, we provide group stress management sessions and a programme of pain management. Enabling individuals and families to access and stay with this support can take extra understanding, experience and skill – which is what makes Solace so unique.

Our main office is in Leeds, but our services cover the whole Yorkshire and Humber region.  What we provide in each area differs according to the funding we have in place but all our services are aligned with our values and ethos and we try to provide as much support as we can.  We also support other organisations through training and reflective practice and with our video resources.  click here for more information

We have full-time, part-time and sessional therapists, plus a small number of volunteer and placement therapists who carry out the work.

Last year we supported over 1,300 people through our therapy and group sessions.

Our aims and values

Solace is proud of our values led approach.  We want to deliver effective services but we want to share expertise and support others so people fleeing persecution are able to access high quality services wherever they are.  You can read more about our approach in our 2025-2028 strategic plan here
